Privacy Policy
How this independent editorial review site handles information about its readers in South Africa.
Current sponsor offerA Reader's Visit
Suppose you open a page on this site to read our review of LiteFinance. You scroll through the text, follow a link to another page, and then close the tab. In that ordinary visit, some technical information is created and logged automatically, such as the type of device you use, the browser, the approximate region from which the request came, and the time of the visit. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, identity number, or bank details to read the review.
That example shows the general rule. This site is an independent editorial resource. It is not the broker, it is not affiliated with the broker, and it does not provide financial services, accounts, deposits, or advice. Because we run a publication rather than a brokerage, the information we handle is mostly the technical and statistical trace of reading, together with anything you choose to send us through the contact form on this site. We keep that handling narrow and proportionate to running an editorial site.
Legal Basis
We process personal information only where there is a lawful basis for doing so. For the technical data needed to deliver pages, keep the site secure, and prevent abuse, the basis is our legitimate interest in operating a functioning editorial publication. For aggregated measurement of how readers use the site, the basis is also our legitimate interest in understanding which reviews are useful and how the site performs.
Where you send a message through the contact form on this site, we process the details you provide so that we can read and respond to your enquiry. That processing rests on your request and on our legitimate interest in corresponding with readers. If we ever need your consent for a specific use, we will ask for it separately and you may withdraw it at any time.
We do not use your information for automated decisions that produce legal effects, and we do not build profiles for advertising purposes. The lawful bases above are applied in line with applicable data protection law in South Africa, including the conditions for lawful processing.
What Is Collected
We collect the technical information that servers record when a page is requested: an abbreviated or masked network address, browser and device type, operating system, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. We also collect aggregated measurement data about page views and general interaction with the site. If you use the contact form, we collect the name, contact details, and message you choose to provide.
We do not collect your financial account information, your trading account credentials, your deposits, your identity documents, or your precise location. We do not ask for and do not want your broker account number. We do not collect special categories of personal information. We do not use cookies or similar tools to track you across other websites for advertising, and we do not sell reader information.
Please do not send sensitive financial details through the contact form. If you have an issue with an account, that belongs with the broker concerned, not with this editorial site.
Children and Age
This site is written for adults who are considering brokerage services and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If you are under 18, please do not use the contact form or send us personal information.
If we learn that we have received personal information from a person under 18, we will delete it as soon as reasonably possible. If you believe a child has sent information to this site, please tell us through the contact form on this site so that we can remove it.
Servers and Recipients
The servers that host this site and the service providers that help us run it may be located outside South Africa. As a result, technical and measurement information may be processed in another country. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the information receives an appropriate level of protection consistent with applicable law.
Recipients of information are limited to those who need it to run the site: our hosting provider, our measurement provider, and any provider that helps us receive and answer messages sent through the contact form. These providers act on our instructions and are not permitted to use reader information for their own purposes.
We may also disclose information if required by law or by a lawful request from a public authority, or to protect the rights and safety of the site and its readers. We do not share reader information with the broker that we review, and we do not sell it to anyone.
Analytics and Your Rights
We use aggregated measurement to understand how readers find and use the site, for example which review pages are read most and whether pages load correctly. The resulting reports are statistical and are not used to identify individual readers. We do not combine measurement data with other information to single you out.
You have rights over your personal information, including the right to be told whether we hold information about you, to access it, to ask for correction or deletion, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to withdraw consent where consent is the basis. To use any of these rights, contact us through the contact form on this site and describe your request. We will respond within a reasonable time and may ask for information needed to verify the request.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa. We keep information only for as long as needed for the purposes described above, and then delete or anonymise it.
